The founder, who grew up working with his father’s insulation company, witnessed firsthand the hazards of asbestos, which was commonly used in building materials. Asbestos was a core material in items like sheetrock, insulation, floor tiles, and glue. In the 80s, when asbestos became regulated, the founder broke off to specialize in its removal, starting Safetech in 1991. His son, who began working with the company as a teenager, moved to Idaho in 2022 to open a second location, while the father continues to manage the business from Montana.
